TMA Legislative Update with TMA President – Dec. 3

Jay B. Shah, MD, TMA President, will offer the last HCMS-hosted ethics CME in 2025. This virtual meeting is free and available to all Houston area physicians.


Are you in compliance with the new state human trafficking requirements?

Effective Sept. 1, Texas HB 754 mandates human trafficking training for medical assistants and directs the Attorney General to develop signage to be posted in clinics and other facilities (signage has not yet been released). Visit the TMA Education Center for free training that meets the law’s requirements.


Medicare Telemedicine

Beginning Oct. 1, 2025, most of the Telemedicine flexibilities granted during and after the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE) expired. For more information be sure to read the CMS notice, consult the HCMS Telemedicine-Telehealth web page regularly, and review CMS telehealth resources.

Are you prepared for WISeR?

CMS has launched a six-year pilot of the WISeR Model starting Jan. 5, 2026, requiring prior authorization for certain services to curb overutilization or improper payment. Review details in the WISeR Provider and Supplier Operational Guide.
