Your Practice. Your way.
Are you prepared for the changes and challenges that lie ahead? What will be required of your practice? Are you meeting new regulations with ease? If you have more questions and worries than answers, then joining the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) and Texas Medical Association (TMA) is critical.
No two organizations are as equipped, ready and willing to fight for and serve you in these challenging times. You can rely on TMA and HCMS for effective advocacy, unbiased expert guidance, and top-notch services. Ongoing membership benefits and programs include:
Legislative Advocacy: In the 83rd Texas Legislature, we worked to address scope of practice expansions, strengthen laws passed that protect the physician-patient relationship, oppose any changes that would dilute the 2003 liability reforms and advocate for increased funding for GME funding.
Payment Advocacy: We work with health plans to improve their processes for patients and physicians, often discovering system-wide problems and collaborate on solutions. We collected more than $19 million for members in the past 10 years through our Payment Advocacy Program. Call us for assistance on your rejected claims.
Practice Efficiencies: We offer updates and solutions to physicians and their administrators on all issues related to the business of medicine in general and health plans in particular.
HCMS Pictorial Roster, Online Roster and Mobile Applications: HCMS offers member directories on numerous platforms from print to Web to smart phones as tools for visibility in the medical community and for patient referrals. In addition, HCMS now offers DocbookMD, a mobile application that includes a HIPAA-compliant communication platform.
Networking at Branch and Young Physician Events: Meet your colleagues and receive practice management CME (usually ethics) by attending HCMS geographic branch and young physician events. These are excellent venues to build relationships with physicians in your community.
Community Involvement: We will continue to help our community through our involvement with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science, the Houston Academy of Medicine/Texas Medical Center Library, and the Greater Houston Health Information Exchange, which were all founded by HCMS.
These are just a few of our successes/programs. We have many more. Our advocacy efforts and services are constantly evolving to meet our members' needs. We welcome the opportunity to learn more about your specific needs, challenges, and goals so we can specifically address your issues. Please contact the HCMS Membership Department at 713-524-4267 or email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know how we can assist you.
