Women Physicians - Thursday, November 5, 2026

The HCMS Women Physicians Section operates as a component of the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) and is governed by the Bylaws of HCMS. It is organized to strengthen female physicians' engagement and representation in HCMS and the Texas Medical Association through the development of relevant programming and services. Membership consists of HCMS female physician members and those who request to join the Section. The Section meets twice a year. The Fall meeting will be held on November 5th at The Junior League of Houston. Registration will open in September. HCMS holds the annual social mixer in the spring. The 2026 event, Apps, Drinks & Aston Martins, was held in April.   

Marketing 101 - The Resources You Need to Develop and Grow Your Patient Base

In today’s competitive environment, marketing your practice has never been more important to improve patient acquisition and retention, increase revenue, and grow your practice. Traditional methods of patient acquisition through personal relationships with colleagues must be paired with social media tools. Yet with so many ways to market your practice it is a challenge to stay within a budget and generate the most effective results.  This Ethics CME presentation, presents ongoing and new HCMS and TMA resources and marketing tips, to physicians as a “how-to” on promoting their practice. The one-hour presentation focuses on the fundamentals of marketing the medical practice. Topics include the importance of defining your referral base, the do’s and don’ts of using social media, and the key principals of developing and maintaining a good relationship with your referring physicians. Medical Student Mixer - 2027 Date TBD

The annual Medical Students' Mixer is for medical students from Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), the UTHealth McGovern Medical School, the University of Houston Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, and Texas A&M University School of Engineering Medicine, enables students to meet other students and HCMS physician leaders. Join us for an evening full of Free food, drinks, music, door prizes and networking with HCMS & TMA physician leaders. The mixer is held annually in August. HCMS Member Benefits Orientation for Physicians & Staff

Join us on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 12:15 - 1pm, for a free HCMS member benefits orientation for physicians and their staff. Ensure that everyone at the practice is aware of the many resources offered by HCMS and TMA to enhance practice operations. Specifically, this meeting will highlight our free tools and resources to help practices reduce payor-related administrative burdens, as well as grow and maintain financial viability. Nearly all resources can be accessed by physician staff on behalf of HCMS members. Click here to register. HCMS Business Expo - Saturday, October 17, 2026

The HCMS Business Expo is an annual event, held in the Fall, dedicated to helping physicians address the challenges associated with managing the medical practice. It is also an opportunity to meet under one roof with over 50 companies offering products and services designed to meet the professional and personal needs of physicians. The 2026 Business Expo will be held on Saturday, October 17 at Reliant Center. See link for details and to register. 

Member Appreciation Day - 2027 date TBD

Enjoy the Health Museum (John P. McGovern Museum of Health & Medical Science) with your family at the Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) Member Appreciation Day. This event is for HCMS member physicians and their families. Member physicians are welcome to invite their staff to enjoy a free day at The Health Museum with their families.  The event includes a FREE one-hour ethics CME, FREE entrance to the museum for the entire day, FREE yoga sessions, plus FREE interactive child-friendly activities.  Member Appreciation Day was held on Sunday, May 3. HCMS @ the Ballpark

HCMS Academic & Employed Physician Social @ TMC Library

HCMS hosts an annual event for academic and employed physicians at the TMC Library. All Texas licensed physicians, residents and fellows are invited to join us for networking, refreshments, and a presentation on issue addressing the needs of employed and academic physicians.  The 2026 event was held on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
